Akhil Paul

Akhil is currently working as Director- Sense International (India) based in Ahmedabad. As a pioneering Non-governmental Organization (NGO) working for deafblind people in India, he established the organisation from its initiation to an independent organisation that is respected and acknowledged by other NGOs, Government of India and International INGOs.

A Post Graduate Diploma in Special Education & Rehabilitation of Persons with Multiple Disabilities from Perkins School for the Blind, Watertown, Massachusetts, USA, Akhil has a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Indore School of Social Work, Indore. Widely travelled through out the world and attended several conferences, has authored and co-authored several articles and papers in books and journals.

Gazala Paul

Gazala is the founder of SAMERTH Trust, a Gujarat based NGO. She is also a consultant to Paul Hamlyn Foundation, UK. She has specific expertise in conflict resolution strategies and working with youth towards attitudinal change for preventing outbreaks of conflict. She has worked extensively in Gujarat, North East India and Northern Ireland. Keeping the primary target as peace and conflict resolution she has worked intensely in livelihood promotion.  She has also worked in the field of gender sensitization, institutional building and capacity building of communities and individuals in violence mitigation.

Gazala has a Master's degree from Brandeis University, Massachusetts, USA in 'Coexistence and Conflict Management' as well as a Master's degree in Social Work from Indore School of Social Work, (Devi Ahilya University) Indore. She has also written several articles in different subjects and has research and evaluation work to her credit.

Yugandhar Mandavkar

Yughandar has experience in the field of land and water management and community based natural resources management. He was associated with the most pioneering watershed projects, like Adgaon, Pimpalgaon Wagha, Kadwanchi and was instrumental in design of the Indo-German Watershed Development Programme and Drought Proofing Programme - Kutch. He has extensive field experience in design, development and management of social development projects and community based water management projects in India and abroad, especially on group formation and empowerment of communities and women.

A postgraduate from IIM, Ahmedabad in Management (Agriculture), Yugandhar’s basic degree is in the field of Agriculture Engineering from Punjabrao Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. He has extensively worked on of training and capacity building of community based organisations (including Panchayat Raj Institutions), and personnel from government and VOs on community-based development interventions. Being well versed with techniques of PRA, LFA, PIME and Moderation, he has expertise in process skills and community interaction methods. Yugandhar has worked with several CSOs for in-house capacity building.

Prabir Bose

Prabir is a Consultant in the area of participatory development communication. He has experience in the field of development, having worked with a wide range of organizations – community-based, NGOs, academic institutions, government departments, UN and other donor agencies. A believer of rights-based and participatory approaches, he worked on issues ranging from education, reproductive health, child rights, water and sanitation, housing, environment, gender and participation. His core competency is in the area of facilitating participatory processes with groups and communities, and has worked with children, adolescents, youth, women, panchayat members and government functionaries.

He has particular skills in the areas of designing, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and process documentation of participatory development communication strategies. Capacity building, design and development of communication resources, scripting and directing video documentaries, facilitating theatre and other performance media processes are other areas of interest.


K.J. Joy

Joy has a Master's degree in Social Work with specialization in Rural and Urban Community Development from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. He has been an activist-researcher for more than 20 years and has a special interest in people's institutions for natural resource management both at the grassroots and policy levels. Joy has contributed as a core team member in several action research studies, pilot projects, research and evaluation studies undertaken by Centre for Applied Systems Analysis in Development (CASAD) and Society for Promoting People's Participation in Ecosystem Management (SOPPECOM), Pune. He has been a core team member of the Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti (BGVS) in its resource literacy and watershed development project across the country.

Anagha Ghosh

Anagha is currently the Director of Shodhana Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. She has worked as Program Director, Centre for Communication and Development Studies in Pune till September 2008. She has been Consultant to UNICEF & Aga Khan Foundation (I) on documentation and research. Empanelled as facilitator cum Evaluator (CBR) for CAPART, Government of India, New Delhi, she has appraised several organizations as pre funding as well as mid term evaluator. She has worked in Tata Steel and established & headed, Medical Social Work unit at Tata Main Hospital, Jamshedpur. She has several years of work experience in counseling people with disabilities, disfigurement and their families and has initiated Support Groups of different socially & medically vulnerable groups. She has designed and imparted training at various levels of functionaries in human soft skill development.

A gold medalist from Pune University in Psychology, Anagha is a first class post graduate from the prestigious Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai and specialized in Medical & Psychiatric Social Work. She further specialized in Community Based Rehabilitation from Institute of Child Health London, University of London, UK.

Samir Ghosh

Mr. Samir Ghosh currently works as Director, Shodhana Consultancy, Pune. He is an international consultant with World Bank. He has also worked as a consultant to UNICEF, Aga Khan Foundation India (AKF), Govt. of India and various state governments. He has also undertaken various projects and research studies for several national and international organizations both in India and abroad. He has written the Maharashtra state Action Plan for Persons with Disabilities and the Chhattisgarh State Policy for Persons with Disabilities which received international acclaim.

Samir graduated from Ravi Shankar University with a major in English and received his Gold Medal from the University for being first class first. He is a first class post graduate from the prestigious Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai with a specialization in Social Welfare and Administration. He further did his specialization in Social Planning from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), London and received his second Gold Medal for being the London University topper.

In 1999, the Hon. President of India awarded him with the National Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of Disability Rehabilitation
